Welsh 'the worst insurance cheats'
Welshmen are more likely than the rest of us to lie to insurance companies to get a cheaper quote, according to Shariah-compliant insurer Salaam Halal.
It reports a survey showing that while a national average 14% admit that they or their partner are "economical with the truth", that rises to 17% for men and 21% for the Welsh.
Most commonly, 40% of cheats say they keep their car in a garage when it is actually parked in the street, and 35% lie about their annual mileage.
Meanwhile, 7% fail to disclose motoring convictions, 3% conceal a previous claim and 5% forget to mention modifications such as spoilers and custom wheels.
They are just as bad when it come to home insurance, with a third deliberately underestimating the value of possessions and 8% wrongly claiming to have a burglar alarm.
